“Counter-terrorism security planning requires that four main objectives are addressed: awareness, prevention, response, and consequence management. To ensure a security plan remains current and workable, once it is established, a thorough understanding of the culture, environment and resources has to be incorporated.
The need for a high level of security and a safe working environment is balanced in both overt and covert security measures to enable a practical working environment. Regular Audits and Reviews are absolutely key to ensuring that the plan remains up to date and effective”
Tony Tesar, Chief Executive Officer, LBi
Many companies and public sector organisations see the need to review their existing security measures in and around their facilities, as well as to identify any extra measures that need to be taken to maximise the security of their staff, customers, facilities, business and residences.
The first step is to conduct an independent Vulnerability & Security Assessment, whose objective is to provide an independent evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses of an organisation’s security measures and to develop a security concept for the organisation that is effective, maintainable and balanced.
Prior to adopting any security measures, it is essential to establish the level and nature of the threat. LBi designs security systems using a threat-based methodology, the key to which is accurately assessing the value of risk. Threats, both internal and external to the organisation (current and projected), are reviewed for their potential impact, and are prioritised based on probability and damage potential. It is essential that all attack eventualities are considered and their potential is mitigated or negated. Once the threats are defined, the necessary measures to protect the facilities and personnel can be developed and implemented.
Practical and realistic advice is provided on additional security methods and techniques that should be employed to enhance existing systems. Recommendations for security enhancements are made on external, perimeter and building security systems for facilities or residences being assessed, based on the threat evaluation. Also highlighted are the requirements for improved procedures, training and awareness for personal security.
All aspects of security are considered, including the use of CCTV, lighting, blast mitigation techniques and physical barriers. By integrating a number of security systems and measures and projecting an effective security screen, it is intended to deny the attacker the opportunity, or the desire, to attack designated facilities.
LBi’s Vulnerability and Security Assessments result in a security strategy that is cost efficient, realistic and maintainable and cover:
