As part of an organisation’s Duty of Care to it’s employees and business, corporate policies and procedures should reflect that there is an overall policy and a set of procedures covering work undertaken in potential trouble spots. There should be a designated HQ-based executive, who has the responsibility for:
| |
Ensuring that the corporate contingency plan is documented, up-to-date and relevant. |
Ensuring that local security assessments are reviewed and updated on a regular basis. |
Ensuring that personnel being deployed to these areas are properly trained and briefed with regard to the threats they face and what they need to do to mitigate these threats. |
Regularly reviewing the security advice from a professional security organisation. |
Initiating the evacuation of personnel when the current level of risk to personnel is unacceptably high – local managers on the ground will be reluctant to take such a decision, except in emergency situations. |
LBi will create the policy document and integrate it into your own policies and procedures.
